On March 26th Gracie South Compitetion team traveled to Ft. Benning GA to support  SSG  Eric Spellman in the Army National Guard Combatives Tournament 2010. The tournament was a three part tournament, Day one consisted of a standard grappling tournament followed by a 10 minute pancrase match. Day two consisted of a MMA match, (three, five minute rounds). "My first match was tough, I lost to points, but with a strong resolve to do better I won my next two matches by submission. My fourth match was against a strong wrestler and I lost to points again." Coach Jerrett Becks, Troy Lambert, and Danny Wilkerson all gave great support and provided great coaching. Eric was one of three Mississippi National Guard soldiers to be the first to compete in this tournament from our state. Great Job! We are Gracie South!
